Record Collecting Tips

Record Care

The enemies of vinyl are, dirt, smoke, mold, dust, oil from your fingers, improper storage and a bad turntable

Albums should be stored vertically in a strong shelf with spacers so that not too many records lean against each other and cause edge warps or excessive ring wear.

Always return the album to it's jacket after playing it and play it with your turntable's dust cover down.

Record bags and plastic lined inner sleeves will prolong record life by keeping dust and smoke out of the jacket and providing a soft surface against the record. Place the album in the bag with the spine out. Bags and inner sleeves are available on the net for reasonable prices. Archive material that is more expensive but worth it if you have really rare albums is available from library supply companies.
